Ultraviolet-B Irradiation Induces Resistance against Powdery Mildew in Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) through a Different Mechanism Than That of Heat Shock-Induced Resistance

چکیده
Heat shock treatment (HST) and UV-B irradiation can reduce pathogen infection in crops. However, information on the mechanism of action is limited. Here, we investigated UV-B-induced resistance against powdery mildew cucumber compared it to that heat-shock-induced resistance. We measured percentage leaf area showing disease symptoms examined expression levels defense- heat-shock-related genes across groups. (intensity, 5 µW/cm2) for 4 h/d followed by inoculation reduced appearance 21.17% with control group. Unlike HST—which induces systemic resistance—UV-B induced local cucumber, as indicated changes gene (Chi2 ETR2). UV-B-treated plants inoculated showed higher Chi2, ETR2, LOX6 than were either treated or inoculated. had no major effects acquired heat transcription factors, which are known be affected HST. Combined HST a strong synergistic effect reducing cucumber. Our results indicate likely operates through different triggering infection.

Loss-of-Function Mutations in CsMLO1 Confer Durable Powdery Mildew Resistance in Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.)
Powdery mildew (PM) is a serious fungal disease of cucumber worldwide. The identification of resistance genes is very important for resistance breeding to ensure cucumber production. Here, natural loss-of-function mutations at an MLO homologous locus, CsMLO1, were found to confer durable PM resistance in cucumber. CsMLO1 encoded a cell membrane protein, was mainly expressed in leaves and cotyle...
متن کاملEffects of Heat Shock on Photosynthetic Properties, Antioxidant Enzyme Activity, and Downy Mildew of Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.)
Heat shock is considered an abiotic stress for plant growth, but the effects of heat shock on physiological responses of cucumber plant leaves with and without downy mildew disease are still not clear. In this study, cucumber seedlings were exposed to heat shock in greenhouses, and the responses of photosynthetic properties, carbohydrate metabolism, antioxidant enzyme activity, osmolytes, and d...

متن کاملPolymorphom of sexually different cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) NIL lines.
Isolations of polymorphic sequences of two pairs of the NIL lines of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.), which differ with respect to sex, were carried out using the subtraction hybridization methods of DSC (Differential Subtraction Chain) and GDDSC (Genetically Directed DSC). 266 DSC tags were isolated from the entire genome region, and 38 GDDSC tags were isolated from the region containing the sex...

The in vitro effects of ultraviolet B (280-320 nm) radiation on microsomal membrane proteins and partially purified ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase (Rubisco) from cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) was investigated by measuring the direct photolytic reduction of tryptophan fluorescence and the formation of fluorescent photooxidation products. Exposure of microsomes and Rubisco to monochromatic 300...
